Time Away
Time away to recharge is essential for a happy, healthy life. In that spirit, Principia provides eligible faculty and staff with time-off and leave benefits.
Vacation, Health, Personal Time
Vacation (12-month staff only)
Employees who work year-round are eligible for four weeks of paid vacation (160 hours, prorated for part-time staff). Employees accrue vacation each pay period, and employees cannot roll over more than 80 hours into the following calendar year. Any vacation hours in excess of 80 hours (prorated for part-time) at the end of the calendar year will be forfeited.
Health
Employees accrue seven paid health leave days per year (prorated for part-time staff). Employees accrue health leave each pay period, and employees cannot roll over more than 15 days to the next calendar year. Health days can be used when you are unable to work because of your own or a family member’s health or health-related appointment.
Personal
Principia provides three paid personal days each year (prorated
for part-time staff), and up to five days can be carried over to the
next calendar year. This benefit adds additional flexibility to your
schedule, and can be used in any way you choose, to
■ Celebrate birthdays or anniversaries
■ Schedule appointments
■ Observe holidays not already observed by Principia
■ Manage family emergencies
… and more.
